This is a weekly blog meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read .       Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?    This question is very easy to answer (I have many ha ha).  I avoid Horror, Erotica (and bodice rippers), and most Mysteries.  I don't like reading about a gruesome death or steamy intimate scenes.  That is why I mainly read YA- I can avoid all of that!       TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads ! that re-caps the week’s posts and has different question each week.   Buy or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan? Where do I get my books?  The library, yard sales, discount book stores, Amazon.  What would I prefer?  To be able to buy all my books from Indie bookstores- but sadly, I don't have the money for that.  I don't have money for buying books in general- so books that don't come from

Best Book Ever: Dystopian

Image
Welcome to Best Book Ever!  Every week we pick a new theme and authors, bloggers, and book readers decide what is their favorite of all time!  This week we are talking about one of the hottest genres in YA literature:             Week 9: Dystopian Ooh... this is hard picking just one, because there's so many well written YA Dystopians out right now. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is FABULOUS!! I seriously love everything about this book. I'm being so serious when I say that. Tahereh writing is engaging. She completely swept me off my feet with her story. Her world building is fascinating, and I really enjoyed the plot twists, danger, action, romance, and  all the surprises that Tahereh throws into her entire story. I completely fell in love with all her characters, even the not so nice ones, because she allows readers to understand the reasoning behind the way they are and the choices they make. This book was a complete packag

Guest Post: Austentatious Movie Casting

Image
Today, we are welcoming Alyssa Goodnight- the author of Austentatious!  She is here to give us her picks for who would play the characters in her book if there was a movie! I'm one of those bare bones writers. Basically it's just me, typing away at my keyboard, using Microsoft Word on my desktop computer, but sometimes shaking things up with my Alphasmart. Obviously I don't use special software, I don't listen to music, I don't pre-cast my books, and I don't use any peripheral charts or really any extranneous anything. Recently I've started collaging, and that's made a world of difference in keeping the story fresh in my mind, but I wasn't even doing that with AUSTENTATIOUS. So the casting came afterwards. I don't know if that makes any difference, but I just wanted to lay it out there that these faces weren't inspiring me through the writing, rewriting, and revisions. But now, they seem absolutely perfect!
