Arabella Holmes was born different and raised different. After it became apparent she wouldn't fit the role of a proper 1900's lady, her father, Sherlock, called in some lingering favors, and landed her a position at the Mutter Museum. The museum was Arabella's dream; she was to become a purveyor of abnormal science. What her father called a BoneSeeker. Henry Watson arrives at the Mutter Museum with a double assignment--to become a finder of abnormal antiquities and to watch over and keep Arabella Holmes. An easy task, if he could only get her to speak to him instead of throwing knives in his general direction. But this is no time for child's play. The two teens are assigned to a most secret exploration, when the hand of a Nephilim is unearthed in upstate New York. Soon, Arabella and Henr

THE SUMMER I WASN'T ME By Jessica Verdi Published on April 1 2014 Published by Sourcebooks Fire Source: Netgalley Lexi has a secret. She never meant for her mom to find out. And now she's afraid that what's left of her family is going to fall apart for good. Lexi knows she can fix everything. She can change. She can learn to like boys. New Horizons summer camp has promised to transform her life, and there's nothing she wants more than to start over. But sometimes love has its own path... From Crystalee.... With all of the recent books about LGBTQ youth coming out, I had almost forgotten that I requested this one from Netgalley. I'm so glad I found it in my virtual "pile" of books to read and gave it a shot. This isn't the first book I've read about a teen sent to a "de-gayifying camp." Emily M. Danforth's epic novel The Miseducation of Cameron Post   also conquers this difficult subject. Unlike Danforth's book,

The Fault in Our Stars Movie Review

The Fault in Our Stars Movie Review Released June 6, 2014 Synopsis from the book (Goodreads): Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!  The Fault in Our Stars was released in early 2012, and from the moment that I heard about it I have refused to read it. From that very first time hearing about the book, I started hearing readers thoughts on the book, and was told time and time again that I needed to just "read the darn book already, Jaime" and "You will not regret it, I promise you". Despite all of the recommendations and the promises made, I stuck with my decision to stay far, far away from this book. Let me explain a little.... I had no doubt that John

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday hosted by  The Broke and the Bookish I was going to do half likes and half dislikes, but I decided that I would much rather share all of the beautiful likes! Makes a much more appealing (and eye-catching) post when there is nothing by awesomeness! Alienated  by Melissa Landers I love covers like this one, half and half covers. Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins is another example. The One  by Kiera Cass My relationship with these types of covers, the infamous "chick in a dress" covers, is interesting. I will be honest and say that I really do love them. They are some of the most stunning covers. BUT I want the cover to match the story, and sometimes dress covers just don't match the story. Blue Lily, Lily Blue  by Maggie Stiefvater Give me a beautiful drawing on a cover, and your cover will more than likely end up on a favorites list of mine someday! Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan, anyone? I'll Gi
