In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

I found myself utterly confused about what was going on and it took me a little bit to remember all the characters and the plot of the first book.

I loved the relationship between Emma and Galen in Of Triton. I love that they are passionate, caring, and really make each other BETTER people.  That is what a relationship should be.  Not one person trying to make the other better and being delusional.  Emma and Galen really are stronger together (for more than one reason).  I have to say (and this isn't a spoiler- it was in the first book).  Nalia (aka Emma's mom) and Glom (aka Galen's big brother) are supposed to be married.... and Emma and Galen are together.... isn't that weird?  Or is it just me?  I am going with it is just me and accepting that maybe merpeople are... different.

I loved the action in this book and I really think that Emma is a kick-butt heroine.  (Not kickbutt in a Katniss Everdeen I have no emotions kind of way, but as a character who has feelings but who can stand up for herself).  I am even less of a fan of Emma's mom in this book than I was in the first book. Favorite character?  Emma's grandfather- he is made of awesome.

Of Triton was an excellent sequel.  It had good pacing, a great adventure, and a pretty epic "battle" scene.  I can't wait to get my hands on the third book- I just don't know how I will wait another entire year to do so!
