Summary Taken from Goodreads:

It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

This book was full of surprises!  I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone who is reading the book, but many characters in this book have secrets and I was completely shocked and blown out of the water by some of them.  I have read a lot of young adult fantasy and I have to say that the last 5 chapters of this book totally caught me off guard.

I absolutely adored the slow growth between Henry and Kate.  Kate didn't fall all over Henry just because he was gorgeous.  I wanted to fist pump the book and say "Thank you!" for not making them fall in love in 24 hours.  I loved that they were shy with each other and got to know each other slowly, letting their feelings develop.

I can't wait to find out more about Henry- he is still shrouded in mystery in a lot of ways.  I am excited for reading the next book in this series, I hope it is as good as the first one was!
