This year, Coranne and I are happy to take part in the Top 10 of 2012 meme. There have been a ton of amazing books that have come out this year, or which we've read this year, and so we're spreading our top picks out with a new theme every day.

So if you've picked up on anything in our reviews, it's that we are big fans of strong female characters in books, so when we got to pick our own theme today, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about. Coranne snagged a couple of my picks -- Throne of Glass and Grave Mercy -- but fortunately, there's no shortage of smart, savvy, kick-butt ladies in books today! My picks are women who I admire for being brilliant and fearless, characters who aren't content to play the role of damsel in distress, no matter what anyone says.

I like leading ladies who know how to kick butt. These five leading ladies are not afraid of a good fight and I would totally want on my side if it came to a good brawl.
