The princess didn't expect to fall in love--with her nemesis.

Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. The spectorium she creates provides energy for all, but now her father has found a way to weaponize it, and his intentions to incite war force her to flee from his grasp. She escapes across enemy lines into the kingdom of Theoria, but her plans to hide are thwarted when she is captured and placed in the young king's servitude.

Tarik has just taken over rulership of Theoria, and must now face a new plague sweeping through his kingdom and killing his citizens. The last thing he needs is a troublesome servant vying for his attention. But mistress Sepora will not be ignored. When the two finally meet face-to-face, they form an unlikely bond that complicates life in ways neither of them could have imagined.

Sepora's gift could save Tarik's kingdom from the Quiet Plague. But should she trust her growing feelings for her nemesis, or should she hide her gifts at all costs?

Nemesis...

There are so many wonderful things to love about this story, but you have to push through the beginning a little bit. It is a tad slow, a little bit boring, but if you can make it through the first 50 pages, you will find a beautiful, fast-paced story filled with many things to love.

Princess Sepora of Serubela made the choice to run away from her home, from her father, with her mothers aid. Forced from childhood to do the bidding of the king, Sepora can stand it no longer. She will not be used to incite war, no matter the cost. So she flees to the desert, in search of Theoria, the land of her fathers enemy. After several days hard journey, she is kidnapped by two brothers, and when she finally reaches Theoria, things do not go at all as planned. Ending up in the harem, then becoming the assistant to Rashidi, Royal Adviser of King Tarik, were nothing she could have dreamed of. And falling in love? That was definitely not in the cards. Having to hide her true self, and what she was born to do, only makes things harder.

Tarik never expected to become king of Theoria at eighteen. But a sickness is sweeping his country, not caring about class, and his father is one of the first taken. Now, King of Theoria at eighteen, he is left trying to save his kingdom from a plague he doesn't understand, that his best Healers are stumped by. Overwhelmed and frustrated, when he meets Sepora, he is struck by her bravery. As she gets closer to Tarik every day, and does everything in her power to aide him, he falls a little more for her each day. But Sepora is hiding something, and he must get to the bottom of it, no matter how much he loves her.

Nemesis is a fantastic story, filled to the brim with stunning world-building, and incredible characterization. Once I made it past the bumpy beginning, I was hooked. Giant cats, and flying snakes, Egyptians shout-outs, and warring kings, supernatural abilities... this book truly has it all. The banter between Tarik and Sepora was one of the brightest spots in the story, and their dislike to love story was done splendidly. The secondary characters in the story were standouts, bringing something new to every part of the story. The ending, though? Ouch! It is a definite cliffhanger, but it also gives a little bit of hope that things will be okay.

I adored Nemesis so much, and I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend this one to you! And if you are considered about the cover, as I have seen many people are, please just read the book. It is made clear during the story!
