Read the book that Kirkus Reviews called: "A complex, witty page-turner, ideal for YA fans of scandal and romance."
Don’t love your enemy. Declare war on him.
Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to Buttcrack-of-Nowhere, Ohio, to help her mom escape a bad relationship.
All the girls in her new school want one thing—Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter's never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he's never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.
Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.
The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.
The game board: East Summit High.
The reward: Something neither of them expected.
Previously published as Lovely Vicious, this fully revised and updated edition is full of romance, intrigue, and laugh-out-loud moments.
Love Me Never...
I loved every single minute of this book. I sat down on a Saturday night to read a few chapters before bed, stayed up until the wee hours of the morning, and finished it by Sunday afternoon. It just has this.... unputdownable quality to it. Sara Wolf, I have no complaints. One thing, though. PLEASE get me book 2 asap!
Isis is one of the most genuine, honest voices I have heard in a while. She is strong and confident and fierce. She is full of wit and biting sarcasm. But there is a deeper side to her as well. She was hurt badly, she doesn't have a great home life, even though it is full of love, and even with all of her confidence, she feels like she will never be loved. She doesn't even like the idea of love, thinks it is fake. Her loud, brash personality is off-putting to a lot of her peers, but she doesn't let it bother her and she never tries to change. She is perfect the way she is, and she makes two really great friends because of who she is. Loyal and loving, and you never know what she will say next!
Jack Hunter is an altogether different story. He is nicknamed the Ice Prince for good reason. He is honest to a fault, and mean as a snake. Anyone within his range will be hit by his massive doses of real. regardless of his terrible attitude, he has a gaggle of girls falling all over him when he is around. But he wants none of it. Then Isis comes to town, and she turns his entire world upside down. Every day, their war grows. Not to mention, the first time she met him, she punched him in the face. (With good reason). But Ice Prince Jack has met his match, and those feelings that he thought were hate are turning into something he never thought he would feel again. Not after Sophia.
Other than a small sub-plot (which adds another layer of depth to an already great story), the plot of this book is very simple and straight-forward. IT is all about a war. It is super silly in places, completely over-the-top in others, but never did I grow bored. I know there will definitely be people who don't like Isis and Jack, or any of the other wonderfully written secondary characters, but I loved them from the get-go. And if you are anything like me, get ready for some laugh out loud moments, and some serious swooning. There are even a few emotionally gripping moments, which, again, added even more depth to the story.
If you can't tell, I really adored Love Me Never. But be warned.... the ending will make you want to throw something. Rest assured, there is another book on its way. And I CANNOT wait to read it. Sara Wolf has officially been added to my favorite authors list!
About the Author...
Sara Wolf is a twenty-something author who adores baking, screaming at her cats, and screaming at herself while she types hilarious things. When she was a kid, she was too busy eating dirt to write her first terrible book. Twenty years later, she picked up a keyboard and started mashing her fists on it and created the monster known as the Lovely Vicious series. She lives in San Diego with two cats, a crippling-yet-refreshing sense of self-doubt, and not enough fruit tarts ever.
