My Thoughts
I will admit right off the bat that I had a hard time getting into this story. The world was dreadful, I was angry at all of the characters, except the MC, and I was more than a little confused. But I am a huge fan of anything Month9Books thus far, so I was determined to give it a fair chance. While Nobody's Goddess wasn't my favorite of stories, it was still an interesting read with a unique concept, and the writing was really well done.
There honestly isn't much that I am able to tell you about the story itself. There are so many twists and turns throughout the entire book that most anything I could say would be a spoiler. I will say this one thing about the plot, before moving to safer zones. The synopsis doesn't tell you everything about this story! The beginning was a bit slower paced, as we meet the Noll and her childhood friends, playing Queen and Regents, and see her best friend Jurij find the goddess in her older sister. The story abruptly jumps ahead to Jurij's Returning day, and Noll's heartbreak because of it. From here, the story takes off into territories I never would have expected, and the twists and turns don't stop coming until the end.
Noll was a great character, full of hurt and confusion and anger. She was strong, and stubborn. I didn't like some of her actions, some more than others, though. But I did understand where she was coming from. The world-building is done well, and was one of the best aspects of the story. Amy McNulty has a great imagination, and it shined in the pages of her story.
And that, folks, is all I am going to tell you! Honestly, you want to be as shocked and stunned as I was during some of the twists, and I am not going to be the one to ruin it for you! Nobody's Goddess was a good story, with solid writing and world-building. It might not have been a favorite of mine, but I am glad that I kept with the story. It ended up being enjoyable, and a story I can recommend with ease; especially to those of you who love a romance-based fantasy!
