I was really looking forward to reading this sequel because I saw so much need for redemption in William in the first book. I am so glad that the author chose him as the focus of the second book. She did an outstanding job of showing the complexities of fixing past wrongs and working to get life back on track. I really loved William's character in this book. I loved that the romance between William and Patience is slow moving and isn't "instalove".
I thought the dynamic between Patience and her family was interesting. There are so many hurts there that are realistic- especially in that time period. I enjoyed reading about someone who didn't seem to fit into the mold that her family created for her.
I will say, compared to the first book- there wasn't much in the way of action. There were a few scenes, but this was a very narrative driven book. The book is comprised mostly of conversations- this is not a book that is full of fist fights and damsels in distress. I enjoyed this about the book, but I know some may find it slow moving.
I was satisfied with this sequel and I am looking forward to the next book in the series!
