Miss Arabella Beckett has one driving passion: to help the downtrodden women of America. When the trouble Arabella had accidentally stirred up seems to have followed her to New York and threatens her very life, the unlikely couple must face the possibility that they might have landed in the most peculiar circumstance of all: love.
Jen Turano is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors in Christian fiction. Her books are hilarious and exciting! I love that the author doesn't let the characters take themselves too seriously. I again found myself laughing out loud at certain scenes, just as I did the first book in the series.
This is one of those books that feels almost like an ensemble- there are a TON of characters! I genuinely thought each character felt important to the overall story and I loved reading about all of them- I can't even think of one character I felt lukewarm about. (Which pretty much never happens.)
Like the first book in this series, the characters are thrown into situation after situation and are given no break. It is amazing how much the author puts her characters through. I would need a major vacation (or time away from all the people in my life) if that was what I had to go through! I found the romance to be interested, but not overblown.
I am really enjoying this series and have the third book to read soon. I love that these are light historical reads with a healthy dose of humor.
