Told in multiple viewpoints, A Tangle of Knots is a magnificent puzzle. In a slightly magical world where everyone has a Talent, eleven-year-old Cady is an orphan with a phenomenal Talent for cake baking. But little does she know that fate has set her on a journey from the moment she was born. And her destiny leads her to a mysterious address that houses a lost luggage emporium, an old recipe, a family of children searching for their own Talents, and a Talent Thief who will alter her life forever. However, these encounters hold the key to Cady's past and how she became an orphan. If she's lucky, fate may reunite her with her long-lost parent.
A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff is spectacular! I loved this book from the first word to the last. It is different strands of one intricately woven story!
Each chapter gives you a look at one character and how they deal with everything going on around them. As you read, those seemingly unrelated strands get tangled together to give you the perfect blend of life.
In a world of Talented (those who have a special Talent) or Fair (those who don't or haven't found their Talent) people, is a cast of characters who seem to have nothing in common. However, Fate has quite a journey in store for all of them, beginning with the birth of tiny Cady, who has the Talent of baking perfect cakes. And, you can even bake Cady's cakes, too, as the recipes are all contained within this fantastic book. (Perhaps you yourself possess that particular Talent!)
I can't say too much because even the slightest tug of the wrong string can unwind this perfect set of knots, and it's definitely something you need to read and discover for yourself!
And, always remember: "It's the way we deal with what Fate hands us that defines who we are."
