Blogoversary Week: Day 2 +Giveaway!
Welcome back to Short and Sweet Reviews! I am so glad you are making this journey with me this week. Today I wanted to talk about the people I have met. I hope this is an encouraging post to my fellow book bloggers. I remember what it was like 11 months ago- intimidating. But there are so many resources out there and very friendly people out there!
People:
I don't pretend I am an expert about blogging. I have learned so much in the last year, but there are still so many things I have no clue about. There have been some absolutely wonderful people out there who have been helpful to me and willing to help a newbie when she was desperate to have any idea of how to make a successful blog.
Katie from Mundie Moms, Andye from Reading Teen, and Jen from I Read Banned Books have been so wonderful to answer random questions and be willing to talk and tweet someone that they have never talked to before.
Damaris from Good Choice Reading is an all around awesome person! She was willing to talk to someone who signed up for every single one of her arc tours and pested her constantly with emails. Damaris was so helpful to me, answering questions and being willing to help me out when I had no idea what I was doing. I am so glad I have gotten to know her online and I can't wait to meet her in real life!
Haley from YA-Aholic is such a wonderful person to know. I have so much fun chatting with her online. Even though she says I am picky with my books and she has a violent streak ;) I have learned to love her, ha ha! What I especially love about Haley is how much she supports small publishers and Indies. She has introduced me to so many awesome books and I am so grateful to know her!
Twitter is such an awesome tool to use as a blogger. I have gotten to meet and chat with some of my favorite authors (who also happen to be awesome people!) So I have decided to make a list for you of people you NEED to be following on Twitter.... and then go follow their blogs- cause they are awesome!
Authors:
Alyssa Goodnight, author of Austentatious
Elizabeth Fama, author of Monstrous Beauty
Jodi Meadows, author of Incarnate

I know I missed a bunch of people and I am so sorry! There are so many awesome bloggers on Twitter- I hope you are connected!
Resources:
I remember starting out and feeling incredibly lost. I had no idea how to find books or what to do with them. I am not going to give you a paragraph about how or why to do things, but I will give you a list of the absolute BEST blogger resources out there:
Blog Mechanics:
Problogger has a great resource page!
Publishers, Advanced Reader Copies, and Blogging How-Tos:
The Story Siren (This is the most comprehensive page for tips, tricks, and great articles! This is THE place to start for new bloggers or bloggers who are still trying to figure things out)
Literary Exploration has a fantastic resource of all the contact emails for publishers. It is always best to email them 3-4 months BEFORE a book is released.
ParaJunkee has a great feature weekly called Dear Parajunkee. You can ask her annonymous questions about blogging- she has answered everything you could think of!
Advanced Reader Copies Online (E-galleys):
Net Galley: If you are a newer blogger and want a chance to read Advanced Copies, Net Galley is an awesome resource. They get most of the hottest ARCs available!
Edelweiss: Many bloggers use Edelweiss for their awesome catalogs (and if you are going to order anything from publisher- just use this site, it is SO much easier than going to each publishing house website.) Most don't realize that you can get TONS of e-arcs on this site- and the selection isn't the same as Net Galley!
Memes:
Sunday: In My Mailbox
Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday
Wednesday: Waiting on Wednesdays
Thursday: (Best Book Ever!)
Friday: Follow Friday
I hope this post is a help to any of my fellow bloggers or even a follower who may be interested in starting a blog! Any of my readers are more than welcome to email me at oneminutebooks at gmail dot com any time to ask questions about blogging or books. If I don't have an answer for you, I am very willing to ask around to help you! Blogging is a community and I would love to give back!
