Wake Unto Me- Summer Challenge +Giveaway

Image
Wake Unto Me By Lisa Cach Published by: Speak Published on: March 2011 Summary taken from Goodreads : A haunted castle, a handsome young man dead for four hundred years, one heck of a scary portrait of a witch, and a treasure hunt -- not to mention a princess for a roommate! -- all await 15 year old American girl Caitlyn Monahan when she earns a scholarship to a French boarding school. There are secrets behind the stone walls of Chateau de la Fortune, buried for centuries along with the mystery of who killed Raphael, the charming ghost who visits Caitlyn at night. But as Caitlyn unearths the history of the castle, nothing scares her as badly as the secret she learns about herself, and the reason she was chosen to come to the Fortune School. And nothing breaks her heart as badly as falling in love with a dead guy. I am not sure why, but I really thought this story was about Hades.  I have no idea why I thought that or what would have given me that idea.  ...

Blood Red Road- Summer Reading Challenge

Image
Blood Red Road By Moira Young Published by: Margeret McElderry Published on: June 2011 Summary Taken from Goodreads : Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the world outside of desolate Silverlake, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her. But it is a love set against a dreadful race against time to save the entire fairy realm, which is in mortal peril. I loved the summary about this book- st...

The Goddess Test - Summer Reading Challenge

Image
The Goddess Test By Aimee Carter Published by: Harlequin Published on:  April 2011 Summary Taken from Goodreads : It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall. Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess. This book was full of surprises!  I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone who is reading the book, but many characters in this book have secrets and I was completely shocked and blown out of the water b...

Falling Under- Summer Reading Challenge

Image
Falling Under By Gwen Hayes Published by:  New American Library Published on:  March 2011 Summary Taken from Goodreads : Theia Alderson has always led a sheltered life in the small California town of Serendipity Falls. But when a devastatingly handsome boy appears in the halls of her school, Theia knows she's seen Haden before- not around town, but in her dreams. As the Haden of both the night and the day beckons her closer one moment and pushes her away the next, the only thing Theia knows for sure is that the incredible pull she feels towards him is stronger than her fear. And when she discovers what Haden truly is, Theia's not sure if she wants to resist him, even if the cost is her soul. Wow, this book was not what I expected at all.  I expected Haden = Hades and for this book to follow a Greek mythological storyline.  That is not what I got at all. I was shocked that this book was actually about demons and not gods and goddesses, but th...

Cover Reveal- A Breath of Eyre by Eve Marie Mont

Image
Isn't it beautiful? Emma Townsend has always believed in stories—the ones she reads voraciously, and the ones she creates in her head. Perhaps it’s because she feels like an outsider at her exclusive prep school, or because her stepmother doesn’t come close to filling the void left by her mother’s death. And her only romantic prospect—apart from a crush on her English teacher—is Gray Newman, a long-time friend who just adds to Emma’s confusion. But escape soon arrives in an old leather-bound copy of Jane Eyre… Reading of Jane’s isolation sparks a deep sense of kinship. Then fate takes things a leap further when a lightning storm catapults Emma right into Jane’s body and her nineteenth-century world. As governess at Thornfield, Emma has a sense of belonging she’s never known—and an attraction to the brooding Mr. Rochester. Now, moving between her two realities and uncovering secrets in both, Emma mu...

But when the mission goes awry, Opal must tap in to a new kind of magic as stunningly potent as it is frightening. And the further she delves into the intrigue behind the glass and magic, the more distorted things appear. With lives hanging in the balance—including her own—Opal must control powers she hadn't known she possessed…powers that might lead to disaster beyond anything she's ever known. Can Maria V. Snyder do any wrong?  I loved the Poison Study series and was very excited when I realized that this seri...
