Summary taken form Goodreads:

With nothing to their names, young widow Rosa Garner and her mother-in-law return to Texas and the family ranch. Only now the county is demanding back taxes and the women have only three months to pay. Though facing eviction, Rosa can't keep herself from falling in love with the countryside and the wonderful extended family who want only her best. Learning the American customs is not easy, however, and this beautiful young widow can't help but catch wandering eyes. Where some offer help with dangerous strings attached, only one man seems honorable. But when Weston Garner, still grieving his own lost love, is unprepared to give his heart, to what lengths will Rosa go to save her future?

My thoughts:

The Cover:  The cover is very beautiful and as a reader, I appreciate that the book cover actually reflects the story.  I love that the details on the model's dress even include the flowers that Rosa has on her tops.  I love that she is posed in a slightly self-conscious way.  I think that fits Rosa completely!

The Characters:   I wish I would have gotten to know more back story on Rosa.  She was incredibly self conscious and self doubting.  If I could have read a bit of her backstory, I would have been able to relate to her much more quickly.  I enjoyed that she was flawed and wasn't perfect.  I didn't like Louisa, Rosa's mother-in-law.  I thought she was incredibly selfish and ...unlikable.  Weston was a fun male hero in this book.  He had is own issues and struggled with wanting to be with Rosa while battling his own demons.

The Story:  The story dragged a bit in the beginning, but took off after Rosa met Weston for the first time.  I loved Rosa's interactions with Weston and I love how the author both shadowed the story of Ruth and Naomi but also mentioned it and used it in the story.  For a debut novel, I was impressed.  Regina Jennings has the skill and and comfort in her craft of much more experienced authors.  I am eager to read many more books by this author!
